Today, as our nation grieves for those who lost their lives in the terrorist attack in Manchester on Monday, the Church is mobilising in prayer…
Last year, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, invited Christians across the UK, from all streams of the Church, to pray for people to know Jesus Christ. Thousands gathered in Cathedrals across the nation to worship and pray, ‘Thy Kingdom Come’. This year, the movement has gone global and today sees the launch of nine days of prayer leading to Pentecost Sunday (4th June).
Across the UK 34 cathedrals are hosting events, over 100 24-7 Prayer Rooms have registered, over 1,200 prayer events are taking place and over 200,000 prayer resources have been downloaded! Numbers are growing daily and that’s not including what’s happening oversees.
Every day between now and Pentecost Sunday, video devotionals are being released to unite and inspire us in prayer. Today we hear the powerful words of The Most Reverend Michael Curry,
“Prayer alters the chemistry of the moment.
Prayer changes the equation of history…
If you want things to stay the same, don’t bother to pray…”
Join us as we add our Amen to this incredible movement of prayer and mission in our nation. The UK needs the love, forgiveness and healing Jesus offers. Let’s pray that we are a Spirit-filled, people-loving Church who can be a voice of hope, love and redemption in difficult, often fear-filled times.
